We now have Fiber at our cabin which means I can update my blog real-time. This is the first update since over a year ago!
We came up Friday night and got here after 10pm so it was un uneventful evening. We did see the most amazing rainbow on the drive up near Goldbar. It was straight up and down and lit up the whole sky. The colors were so bright and cars were pulling over to the side of the road to take pictures. It was crazy.
Saturday morning I went for a run/walk. Yea! I listened to Shopaholic ties the knot on my phone which was entertaining as I ran. We had a lazy morning and the boys built an obstacle course out of our bears and shoe laces for their Bok choy boys and Domo guys (the newest vending machine craze toys that Hayden is collecting). They made cars out of mini cereal boxes. We had a snack of peppers/brocoli/tomatoes and pita and humus and then headed out. We had lunch at the Mexican Restaurant “El Sol” in Wenatchee. Afterwards, we went to Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee for the first time and it was so beautiful. The boys had fun running around the trails and finding the hidden ponds and waterfalls. We got a little work out in the end as the trails are pretty steep. The weather was perfect (mid 70′s).
After the Gardens, we went on a search for a cable to hook to Steve’s phone to watch video’s on our TV. We went to Wal-Mart first and tried not to laugh at all the toothless people inside. Erik wasn’t able to help us despite Steve calling him by name from his name tag trick. We tried Radio Shack next and Steve got out of there as fast as he could. He was in there with Gavin and there were gang members who were swearing and one guy had 4 tear drop tattoos under his eyes. Scary! He finally found the cord at Verizon and we are still working on getting it to work. We celebrated finding the cable by going to Baskin & Robbins. I had a snickers cone, G had mint chocolate chip, and Hayden had strawberry. Steve tried a Reese Peanut Butter sundae but it was too rich so he bagged it and got a mint chocolate chip shake instead. When we got back to the cabin, we had hot dogs and bagels for dinner, and roasted smores for dessert.
Sunday – We went on a hike called Twin Lakes between Dirtyface and Chiwawa Ridge. It was beautiful. There were a few old growth cedars that were huge. We hiked in about 1.5 miles when we got to a really fast creek crossing (Twin Lakes Creek). There was a log bridge to walk across, but we were worried if the boys fell in the water it would take them downstream. It was pretty fast and deep. So we made the decision to not risk it and turn back. We will go back in a few months when the creek is lower and try to make it all the way to Twin Lakes which is about 4 miles in one way. It was a great hike and the boys and us had a blast! After the hike we packed up and stopped at the 59er Diner for dinner. Steve and I had the Southwest Chicken salad and it was really good. Great weekend!
